We offer a variety of trips that are suitable for a range of skill levels from beginners to the experienced.
Striped Bass
We are very fortunate to be located less than 10 minutes from one of the best striped bass fisheries in California. We have spent countless hours on Lake Mendocino mastering every nuance of this epic fishery that is ideally suited for kayaks. Exciting enough for even the most experienced kayak angler but also great for beginners. This is the most fun you can have kayak fishing in freshwater.
Prime seasons include the spring (March-May) and fall (September-November). We use a variety of techniques ranging from trolling live bait to casting on topwater. Fly fisherman will really enjoy fall topwater action.
Includes fully-rigged kayak, clothing, safety equipment, premium grade rods, reels, and terminal tackle. You are welcome to use your own equipment if you prefer.
GWKC is an active supporter of the Ukiah Chapter of the California Striped Bass Association. While we generally encourage C&R at Lake Mendocino, we will be glad to clean your catch if you would prefer to retain fish.
Rockfish and Lingcod
We will hit the Sonoma or Mendocino coast for some shallow-water, light tackle rockfish and lingcod action. Kayaks allow access to scenic and unspoiled coastline that is LOADED with quality fish. Extremely fun, non-stop action and a great way to selectively harvest some delicious table fare.
Includes fully rigged kayak, clothing, safety equipment, premium grade rods, reels, terminal tackle, and fish cleaning. You are welcome to use your own equipment if
you prefer.
